Pope Francis lands in Kenya

 

Pope Francis lands in Kenya at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at exactly 16:51 local time (13:51 GMT).

The pope is received by President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and other church leaders from Catholic denomination. Present are senior Government officials and other personalities.

He is entertained by choirs in Kiswahili songs.

He proceeds to sign the guest book.

17:15 Local time: The pope leave for JKIA and proceeds to State House Nairobi. He boards a very down to earth vehicle,  a Honda that is substituted for his official Limousine. He is a leader known to be in love with down to earth life.

He arrives at State House Nairobi for official talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta as the leader of the smallest state in the world, the Vatican. He is given a 21 gun salute. He and Uhuru Kenyatta proceed for bilateral talks for some minutes. The pope then leave state to proceed to Italian Embassy and for his overnight rest.
