Pope Francis has left Vatican City, the administrative headquarter of the Roman Catholic Church for his African tour begining in Kenya. There has been weeks long preparations to receive the pope in Kenya which make Kenya the first African country to host the pope.There has been expectations of warm reception in a country which was recently visit by US President Barak Obama whose father hails from Kogello, Kenya in July 2015. Recently Kenya also hosted beatification of Italian Nun Irene Stefani.
The pope widely seen by many as a Pope who connects with the disadvantaged and in a country where the current president is a catholic and immediate former president Mwai Kibaki was also a catholic, all preparations have been done to make the event very successful. In a country that has also suffered terrorism, the security is a top priority for security operatives to ensure that there are no loop holes for insecurity.
The Pope tour to Kenya comes 20 years since the last visit by the Late Pope John Paul II. The calendar will be busy for Pope Francis as he is expected to land to Nairobi Kenya at around 5.00 PM local time and is expected to travel to State house Nairobi to meet with President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Kenyan host. He is also expected to visit Italian Embassy in Nairobi. On his official tour as the head of Catholic, he will hold several masses in Nairobi and Kangemi slums.
He is a strong advocate of Global Warming and climate change and is a critic of development without care for environment. The recent developments in technology is not sustainable without care for Environment.
He will visit UNEP headquarters in Nairobi on preparation for climate talks. Ksh 200,000,000 has been assigned as the budget for Pope Francis Visit to Kenya
