Tanzania is today prepared for the swearing in Ceremony of its new leader. President Elect Dr. John Pombe Magufuli is expected to assume office before the end of the day. The ceremony which has made outgoing President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete to pronounce it a national holiday for Tanzania is indeed a big honor for John Magufuli and the voters in Tanzania.
John Magufuli won with 58% of the total votes in Tanzania. The Archipelago of Zanzibar saw her votes canceled by the Zanzibar Electoral Commission of about half a million votes (500,000 votes). This would however not have influenced the outcome of the election results as John Pombe Magufuli had won convincingly.
Zanzibar Opposition have threatened to keep off the swearing in ceremony following the nullification of her elections. The international election observers have also been dissatisfied with the cancelation of Zanzibar Island elections.
The ceremony will be taking place in Dar Es Salaam at 10 AM Tanzania local time. A Military parade is expected to take place as Dr. John Pombe Magufuli becomes the head of state and the new commander in chief.
Tanzanians are expecting to hear of reforms that may bring in better leaving standard for her citizens. End of corruption scandals and unity of a nation are other things that the people from the Republic of Tanzania wish to hear, more than 50 years after her independence.
Tanzania prominent personalities are expected to attend with live broadcast of the event in the Tanzania Media.
The current Chairman of African Union (AU), Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe is among the expected dignitaries.
Other dignitaries expected to attend the ceremony are head of states from the Neighboring Countries.
Kenya President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Rwanda President Paul Kagame are among the invited dignitaries.
Other Leaders expected to attend are Democratic Republic of Congo - DRC President Joseph Kabila, Mozambique President Felipe Nyusi, Zambia President Edgar Lungu and South Africa President Jacob Zuma.
Opposition leaders are also expected to attend including Kenya opposition Leader Raila Amollo Odinga as friends of Tanzania.
Her Excellency Samia Saluhu Hassan from the Archipelago of Zanzibar will become the first ever female Vice President of Tanzania.
Edward Lowassa is expected to become the official leader of the opposition in Tanzania after finishing second with over 6.5 million votes in the just concluded election of the year 2015.
