Singapore IRBs 7 Finals - Sunday April 17 2016

The 2 times runners up Kenya team Shujaa with attacks led by Collins Injera beat Fiji to a 30-7 final score to win the title.

Kenya is an East African country well known in the rugby 7s but have never got to this success before of winning the title. Fiji on the other hand is a well known nation in the rugby soccer especially in the rugby 15s.

The Singapore IRB 7s earlier on had Kenya beaten by fellow Africa Rugby nation South Africa before finally beating Fiji in the finals.

Its great success for current coach Benjamin Ayimba who has always had a successful career with Kenya team and now that he is currently in charge, Kenya has regained performance in the IRB 7s international circuit.

Fiji Warriors were tournaments favorites irrespective of team injuries especially due to their strong comeback strategy which had propelled them to the finals after poor starts. But the Kenya team gave a commanding 20-0 at half time and continued with impressive performance to deny Fiji the title.

Fiji had beaten Australia wallabies to reach the finals while Kenyas fellow African counterparts South Africa springbok took third position after beating Argentina 28-0.

The World Rugby Sevens Series popularly known as HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series due to sponsorship deal has seen several nations clinch the cup including New Zealand, Fiji, South Africa and Samoa.
