German Angelique upsets Serena from winning a 22nd grand slam

German professional women tennis player Angelique Kerber beats World Tennis number one Serena Williams in Australia Melbourne park to bar Serena Williams from attaining a 22nd grand slam. Serena Williams was the tournaments favorite and came as a surprise to see Angelique Kerber beat Serena Williams 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Angelique Kerber match record against Serena Williams in this Australian open women's singles was 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 thus setting up her single grand slam win.

This was a major boost for Angelique Kerber who has previously lost all her meetings with Serena Williams since defeating her in Cincinnati in 2012.

It was all joy for the new grand slam winner taking her celebrations to Germany.

The 34-year-old Serena, who previously won all six of her previous Melbourne Park finals and was a hot favorite to retain the title was finally put to a stop. The defending champion also won three grand slam titles last year from a very successful season. She now admits to be human saying that she is not a robot that cannot be defeated.
